Why I built Shagunly.

Founder, Shagunly

In 2024, my family was preparing for a major wedding. As with every Indian celebration, the shagun book — that physical register of who gave what — was a source of both pride and panic.

We had hundreds of guests. Some gave physical envelopes. Some sent UPI screenshots on WhatsApp. Some just mentioned it in passing. By the end of the week, the list was scattered across three different WhatsApp groups, a few napkins, and a physical book that was half-completed.

Reconciling it took weeks. Sending thank-you notes took even longer. And worse, we knew that when these guests had their own occasions, we wouldn't be able to easily find how much they had blessed us with.

Shagunly was born out of that chaos.

I'm a cloud engineer by trade, with 20 years of experience building scalable systems. But more importantly, I'm a father of two daughters who loves our traditions but hates the administrative burden they sometimes bring.

I built Shagunly to be the "Digital Shagun Book" that stays with your family forever. It's built for the way Indian families actually work — multi-lingual, private by default, and 100% direct bank-to-bank via UPI.

We never touch your money. We just provide the tools to make your celebration a little more graceful.

With blessings,
Bhushan
